My daughter has a bully.

I say “has a bully” like it is a growth on her body. Well, it is – in a way, but more like a growth on her spirit. I found out about it as I dug for information about why on earth she would not want to return next summer to the YMCA program that she is in. It sounds so fun! They do three field trips a week to really cool places. Why would anyone NOT want that? Then she fessed up. There’s this girl…

Sometimes I think I try too hard to be authentic. Have you ever tried to listen to yourself talk? It sorts of distracts you from making any sense. That is what trying to be authentic is like. We are all fake.

Sometimes I eat hot dogs. We went camping recently and I ate way too many of them. Many in my circle would be aghast at eating actual hot dogs. “Do you know how those are made?” they would ask. Yeah, unfortunately I do. And I still eat them when I am camping. In an effort to be most authentic, I will tell my friends anyways and take their wrath. Sometimes they will slyly confess that they have done the same (probably coming from the same desire to be known as a healthy person). But I am a fake. I love m&ms too.

I work as a translator of sorts. I translate computer mumbo-jumbo into normal layman’s English and speak it back to people. Over the years of doing this, I have noticed a distinct pattern… People who have a strong dislike for computers often have the most problematic computers.

Is this coincidence?

I live in Minnesota – Mound, Minnesota, to be precise. One of my favorite radio stations to listen to is 107.1 FM, which in a worldly sense is www.fm1071.com. I drive a lot, so I listen a lot.. One day I tuned in and the “Get Real Girls” were talking about chakras. Now, that surprised me but I was intrigued. What were they going to say about them? I don’t hear about chakras much on the radio and had never heard them (or any other metaphysical topic of its kind) discussed on this particular station.
